<div>I'm working (slowly) on a sequencer that uses the "hyper modular" idea. Seperate clock module, seperate counter(s), seperate switch banks, logic modules, etc. I think one of the Stooges already built a sequencer based on the same principle.

<div> Most modules are built from subcircuits joined to form a specific funtion. Just take those subcircuits and build them as discrete modules (make sure you also build a bunch of mults, you're gonna need 'em). I saw an old 'teaching' system that had simple functions (op amp summer, for instance) all broken into their most basic functions. It had schematic symbols on the panel to help understand the signal flow. Very cool.
