<P>It's quite common to have a thermal fuse wound into the primary of a </P>
<P>mains transformer. I guess it protects against overheating due to shorted</P>
<P>turns. Sometimes they are wired between one end of the primary</P>
<P>and an unlisted tag and can be replaced, but unless you know why</P>
<P>it blew, it's rating and how to test the transformer for shorted turns,</P>
<P>it is inadvisable except as a last resort.</P>
