I was scrounging through a perminent flea market in Oakland (CA) yesterday, when I came across a couple of boxes of interest. Both boxes were old wood, beautifully stained and very tarnished, dusty, and neglected. The first one contained a vaccuum tube tester. While this looked neat, I was more interested in the contents of the next box: around 15 tubes. Most of them were RCA, all American, mostly small (~2" tall?), a few slightly larger (~3"?).

Now, I don't know much of anything about tubes. But I bought them. They are all legiably marked-- where can I go online to help me identify their purpose?

Given the purchase location, I have NO idea whether they work or not. I didn't buy the tester, since I have no idea a) how to work it, and b) if its working. (If anyone is interested, I can provide the address and you can check it out yourself...). Where can I take these tubes, in the SF bay area, to see if they are working?

Thanks for any info!
