Hi all,<BR>

in regards to a high quality mic pre, there are lads out there if you just do a quick search, but they tend to be in two broad categories: Old (neve style, sound very nice, but not that low noise, and reliant on odd switches and expensive transformers), or new style (way more complicated, very low noise, but can't be pushed as hard as the old designs).<BR>

loads of arguments over transistors or op amps due to distortion, linearity, noise etc<BR>

what do other people think of op amps or discrete approaches.<BR>
