[sdiy] JLCPCB : was 1-quadrant-multiplier

Log into JLCPCB, go to my account and look for My Parts List. On there ask to set up the part. They usually do in about 3 days. Then ask them to quote for it. That can takes ages as they won’t have an account with SSI, but they should come through eventually.

Wow Mike, I didn't realize that reel purchase situation applied to chips that weren't already available at LCSC. If they would keep a reel of alfa parts for me, that could potentially change my strategy quite a bit. I'll have to look into this!

Go for it. I’ve spent the past 20 years designing prototypes for both large audio companies and SMEs then passing the hard stuff of manufacture over to them. But with JLCPCB doing assembly at such low costs and high quality, and a couple of places doing metalwork at sensible prices, I’m now preparing two products to launch as my own once chipageddon comes to an end.

Also for the more esoteric parts, note that if you ask JLCPCB to create a stock number for a part, you can then buy a whole reel of that component already and they store it just for your use free of charge. It’s quite an investment but I’ve done it with one essential part – only wish I’d been able to do it earlier with an STM32 processor that is now totally unobtainable. Maybe people could get together an share the cost of a reel of 2164s ?

heh yeah Mike, I'd say "an order of magnitude" more productive. I'm really looking forward to consignment parts too. it would be quite the game changer if they could stuff 2164s, SSI or AS parts, solder through hole on the opposite side of the smd, etc. funny how much better they do this than any other service, even with their huge limitations. Super Synthesis wouldn't really work without them right now, I'm very grateful.

This is encouraging. I’ve never tried PCBA but it has been calling to me of late… I’m not great at hand-soldering 0805 SMD and pretty tired of bending and snipping resistor legs, and I also don’t have a huge amount of time to devote to it

It’s good to hear good things about JLC here. Cheers
