That's exactly the problem with early implementations of SysEx: as the devices
of the time often did not have sufficient RAM to buffer the whole SysEx
message, it wasn't uncommon to have SysEx write directly into the memory area,
so when a SysEx was aborted ever which way you were left with corrupted data
that might be hard to recover from. Also most MIDI mergers failed to grok
SysEx for a while, so using them together with SysEx was a bit of a gamble.
