So, I've just been looking at Digikey to find through-hole JFETs that aren't
obsolete. It would appear as if the only ones are the ON Semiconductor J1XX
series. J106 looks like a good option, with a V_GS cutoff voltage range of
-2 to -6V. Of course, they are $1.30 for one, or $87 for 100, so pretty
expensive.
Almost everything else is obsolete, as far as I can tell. I had no idea...
kinda shocking and scary.
