What?

There would be 128 velocity values (0 .. 127) if not for Note Off taking 0. Thus, there are 127 velocity values (1 .. 127).

It’s a good thing to collect a histogram of velocity values, though, because there might be fewer than 127. It’s a good thing to know what needs to be emulated.

No need to subtract one more than once.
