Oh, and gets worse! in hunting for a way out of this mess, I found out 
that good ol' TI has 2 different VSSOP8 packages. They are called VSSOP8 
and VSSOP8. No that is not a typo. You have to stare CAREFULLY at the 
datasheet to notice one is a 3x3mm and the other is a 2.3x2mm.
