It wasn't too easy for me to find the right terms for this question (as other replies on this thread suggest).
"Smoothness" makes more sense indeed, although I found for instance this datasheet where resolution
is denominated in degrees: 

I didn't take this for granted, but instead of helping it raised more questions.
