The problem I have with that workbench is that there is not legroom, so you
couldn't sit at it. I'm not sure you'd want to stand for hours on end while
soldering.
I use a large steel office desk with a faux woodgrain formica top (it was
being thrown out at my university -- you wouldn't believe what they throw
out there!). It is perfect for DIY. I can clamp my large board vice to the
front, and the surface is large enough to also harbour my modular with a
couple of truth monitors. Drawers under either side hold all my parts, etc.
The only downside is that the desk is fairly large, but I keep it in the
garage.
