What exactly did you write?

Yes, definitely you should contact your congressman. And if any
company outside the US is reading this, you should contact your local
chamber of commerce or any other government entity that might be able
to influence the decisions of the supplier (ADI). Remember, you're the
industry and if the industry - as small as it may be - is in danger,
you need to act now. You need to gather numbers - how many people do
you employ, your subcontractors, their subcontractors, etc? How many
of them are local to your government? It's probably one of those
situations when industry-wide cooperations are built, even between
companies that don't really like each other. I think this is very
important and would like to propose starting something like this. If
we can gather data, and show how many jobs would be created in the
future if chips don't get randomly obsoleted - vs how many jobs are
lost and prevented from being created if the chips do get obsoleted -
we could show there's a large impact on the lives of many people. Then
we have something in our hands, as small as it may be, and then can go
to any politicians who could put pressure on companies like ADI that
make the wrong decisions. Any amount of data can be blown up out of
proportion, so it's a very strong weapon we would have.

Such a cooperation could also help figure out a supply network and set
up a network of service engineers, because currently everyone does
everything on their own.

Cheers,
D.
